Camberley Heath Golf Club started a programme in 2015 to renovate its bunkers
Over the last 100 years bunkers have been moved/altered since the original Harry Colt design and the club took the opportunity to strategically look at the course and seek professional advice before commencing the work.
Following discussion with three architects that specialise in Harry Colt courses, the Club appointed Frank Pont as the partner for the project. His remit was to survey the course and to produce a blueprint for consideration that would reflect the Harry Colt design philosophy for the current day.
The winter programme of changes in 2015 affected the course's four par 3's, and involved only minor reshaping but no other work to the greens themselves. However, it did involve tree removal, bunker reconstruction, and heather replanting & regeneration.
The work was assisted by specialist Bunker Shaper, George Waters, who has previously worked at Pinehurst Number 2, The Glen View Club, Verdura Golf & Spa Resort and Pasatiempo Golf Club.
